For roasters · The pitch

You roast great coffee. We’d like to tell people about it.

The Roast Index is an independent, editorially-curated directory of British coffee roasters. We don’t sell listings. There’s no tier system, no “featured” for hire, no SEO bait. Every listing is a 2–3 sentence editorial note written by a human who actually tried the coffee.

Why list with us

  • Editorial credibility. Readers trust the directory because we say no to most submissions. Being in means something.
  • Discovery surface. Search-engine optimised, fast, mobile-first. People find us when they search “best British coffee roaster”.
  • Permanence. No algorithm-driven feed. Your listing stays put until you ask us to update it.
  • No money changes hands. We won’t accept payment for placement. So your inclusion isn’t a paid ad — it’s a recommendation.

What we need from you

  • Roaster name, location, founding year, founder(s).
  • A 250g bag of your current flagship coffee, sent to a UK address.
  • Your sourcing approach in your own words — one paragraph is enough.
  • 1–2 photos (the roastery, the kit, the people, the bags).
  • Café locations, if any.

The process

  1. You email us. We reply within a week.
  2. We try the coffee. Slowly. Twice. Different brew methods.
  3. We write a draft editorial note. You see it before it goes live.
  4. If we both like it, you’re in. If not, we explain why.

About 1 in 3 submissions makes it through. The bar isn’t exclusivity for its own sake — it’s that we only list roasters we’d personally recommend.

Pitch us.

One email. Tell us who you are, what you roast, and why we should care.
