We feel super lucky to be sharing with you this delightful sweet coffee that you probably wouldn't know it was a decaf" All the flavour. None of the buzz. Who said decaf had to be boring? Certainly not us. Meet Melao , a beautifully sweet, juicy Colombian Pink Bourbon that proves you really can have it all. Big flavour, gorgeous sweetness and all the pleasure of a seriously good coffee, just without the caffeine. The name Melao comes from a traditional Colombian syrup made by melting panela (unrefined cane sugar) with water. Think golden, sticky, caramel-like sweetness. Delicious, right? That's exactly the inspiration behind this coffee. A little dessert in your cup. Grown by a collective of passionate smallholder producers in the lush mountains of southern Huila, Melao celebrates one of Colombia's most exciting coffee varieties: Pink Bourbon . Loved for its natural sweetness and beautifully complex flavours, it's become a firm favourite with coffee growers and drinkers alike. This particular lot brings together washed and honey-processed Pink Bourbon coffees, creating a wonderfully balanced, sweet and characterful cup. The magic behind the decaf Here's where things get clever. Rather than stripping away all those lovely flavours, Melao is gently decaffeinated in Colombia using the Sugar Cane EA process . At the Descafecol plant in Manizales, the beans are treated with mountain water and ethyl acetate derived from Colombian sugar cane. This carefully controlled process removes 99.7% of the caffeine while preserving the character and sweetness that make this coffee so special. No dull, lifeless decaf here. Just brilliant Colombian coffee that happens to be caffeine-free (well, almost!). A little taste of Colombia We first fell for Melao in Bogotá, and it's exactly the kind of coffee we love bringing home to Carnival. Full of character, rooted in the hard work of incredible producers and, most importantly, an absolute joy to drink. Perfect for slow mornings, afternoon pick-me-ups or that after-dinner coffee when you fancy another cup but would quite like to sleep tonight.
