Tasting notes
In the roaster’s words
Tastes like: Chocolate Orange, Pecan, Caramel This coffee is our second sourced from Lot 20 Coffee, based in Kericho County, Kenya. We’re tasting chocolate orange, with notes of nutty pecan and a caramel sweetness on the finish. Lot 20 Coffee specialise in processing and exporting high-quality coffee, working directly with smallholder farmers across multiple regions in Kenya. They’re known for their more experimental approach, focusing on innovative fermentation techniques, transparency in their work, and ensuring positive community impact for their smallholder partners. For this lot, sorted cherries are fermented with Koji culture and pulped oranges, also grown by partner farmers, which creates additional income streams. The mix undergoes a 96-hour anaerobic fermentation, with regular agitation to encourage the development of complex, flavour-rich microbes, resulting in a distinctive and vibrant cup profile.
