In the roaster’s words
This coffee is produced at Bishan Guracha washing station, set at 2050 meters above sea level in Worka, Nensebo, in Ethiopia’s West Arsi Zone (Oromia Region). The name means “Black Water” in the local language, after a prominent river that runs through the area. This lot comes from around 250 smallholder farmers in the surrounding area. They grow and handpick their cherries with care, helped by fertile soils, high altitude and an ideal climate. Once picked, the cherries are pulped, fermented in water tanks for 48 to 60 hours, washed, and slow dried on raised African drying beds for 7 to 14 days. The cup is bright and refined, a style we love in washed Ethiopian coffees.
