Farm : Smallholder Family Farms Producer : Kawacom Sipi Falls (ECOM Group) Coffee Overview Extra Time is a rich and expressive Ugandan coffee produced in the renowned Bugisu region on the slopes of Mount Elgon in Eastern Uganda. Grown by thousands of smallholder farmers, this coffee benefits from fertile volcanic soils, abundant rainfall, and high elevations that create ideal conditions for producing exceptional Arabica coffee. The Bugisu region is home to the Bagisu people, whose coffee-growing traditions have been passed down through generations. Surrounded by dramatic waterfalls, lush vegetation, and the iconic Sipi Falls, the area is recognised as one of Uganda’s most celebrated coffee-producing landscapes. Since its establishment in 1999, the Sipi Falls Arabica Coffee Project has supported local farmers through agronomic training, sustainable farming practices, and quality-focused production methods. The project continues to strengthen coffee-growing communities while preserving the region’s agricultural heritage and natural environment. Farm / Processing This lot is produced by smallholder farmers cultivating coffee at elevations between 1,800 and 2,100 metres above sea level. Coffee is grown under carefully managed conditions using sustainable farming practices, including intercropping and soil conservation techniques that help maintain long-term farm health and productivity. After harvest, the cherries undergo a washed process designed to highlight clarity and balance in the cup. The combination of high altitude, volcanic soils, and meticulous processing results in a coffee that is sweet, structured, and full-bodied. The cup delivers comforting notes of milk chocolate and blackcurrant, complemented by warming mixed spice characteristics. A smooth body, gentle acidity, and lingering sweetness create a balanced and satisfying finish, showcasing the distinctive character of Uganda’s finest Arabica coffees.
