In the roaster’s words
About the coffee beans Luz Helena Salazar has spent over 20 years growing coffee in Colombia’s Quindío region, developing a thoughtful approach to farming that puts quality and sustainability first. Across her farms, including Finca Maracay and La Leona, she works to get the best from her land while supporting the people around her. Away from the farm, Luz also supports charitable initiatives helping vulnerable people in her community. Good coffee, good farming and looking after people go hand in hand. This Pink Bourbon is a great example of what makes her work so exciting. Despite its name, Pink Bourbon isn’t a cross between red and yellow Bourbon, but a distinctive variety prized for its expressive cup profile. Expect delicate florals, bright citrus and juicy, tropical fruit, with a sweetness that keeps everything beautifully balanced. It’s the kind of coffee that makes you stop mid-sip and go back for another. About the name Pearl is where it all started for us at BAD Coffee. Mandi and Alex headed up the iconic Hackney Wick brunch spot, it's where our love for specialty coffee deepened. No Pearl no Bad. I wassaving this name for an extra special bean (not to be sentimental), year on year we keep coming back to Luz Helena Salazar and her wonderful Pink Bourbon crop.
